Kurt Geiger’s creative director, Rebecca Farrar-Hockley has often compared Kurt Geiger to a sweety shop for grown up girls. Me being one of those girls, the new AW press preview is always a date I look forward to for a sneak at new sweet cravings to come.
This time Rebecca and the Kurt Geiger designers took it to the extreme with a whole new bag collection named after ’60s sweets! A nod to KG’s ’60s heritage in London, combined with the retro TV’s in the display got us all reminiscing…
‘Sherbet Jazz’ in Cut Snake Leather
Remember when you were little and judged the value of money by the number of sweets you could buy? These days it’s more shoes than sweets although the bespoke KG dib dabs did tempt me too!
Next season’s ‘Pretty in Punk’ collection will start to hit stores at the end of the month! *Scarlett
First Stop this Summer, New York! And straight down to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the new ‘Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations’ exhibition. I’m told it is exploring the similarities between the two influential designers (Elsa Schiaparelli & Miuccia Prada) from such different eras of fashion. I can’t wait to see the 7 individually themed galleries and see the ninety one-off designs that will be exhibited! One theme that I am particularly excited to explore…”Waist up/Waist Down” and the use of decorative detailing from Schiaparelli’s ‘waist up’ 1930’s café society to Prada’s ‘waist down’ expression of modernity and femininity. I want to be that Prada girl on the right! Effortlessly chic. *Scarlett
I was happy to see that I could sign up to a STILETTO WORKOUT at my local Gym Box. Could there be a more perfect sport for me to excel at?? I can’t wait to pop on my heels for a stiletto workout, where you take part in a series of workout exercises 4 ½ inches off the ground! Not only will I be able to run further in my heels after these classes, but I will also have toned calves of steel for Summer! Maybe I will sign up for the next High Heels Marathon in Moscow next year…Is a wedge cheating? *Scarlett
As if we all don’t love Beyonce enough, last week she revealed (through her first ever tweet) the launch of her new website and Tumblr. After years of a very guarded personal life, she has now invited us into her world with access to her personal photographs of her with family, friends and with her husband Jay-Z. Am I obsessed already? YES. Welcome to the blogging world Beyonce- we are very happy to have you! *Scarlett
With his new book out this month, Jean-Paul Goude gives us the perfect opportunity to reflect on his photography so far. Capturing Marc Jacobs in a tutu and Naomi Campbell playing amongst wild animals in the heart of Africa- his photos are often found sprawled from cover to cover in publications like US Harpers Bazaar. He also shot many Grace Jones videos!! I can’t wait to get my hands on his new book and pick up some tricks to take gggrreat photographs like his…*Scarlett
Just booked a trip to America. I can hardly wait. Planes, skip the trains and AUTOMOBILES from California to New York!
The night before a trip I always put my passport in my shoes- genius I think- it’s not like I’ll be walking out the door without them… Fluorescent shoes, even better. *Scarlett
I promised the day would come soon and that day is almost upon US! Kurt Geiger are launching a dedicated US website for all you fans across the pond. Following from the US? Sign up here http://us.kurtgeiger.com/ and be the first to receive exclusive offers and updates for the launch!
With the first images of AnnaSophia Robb playing a young Carrie Bradshaw populating the internet, I can’t help but get excited for the new series of ‘The Carrie Diaries’ set to come on screens soon. But will the New York 1980’s high school set of Carrie’s teen years fill my SATC shaped hole? Or will I wish I had just rewinded to first episodes from my box set? (I loved it when Carrie used to talk straight to camera!) My NY friends seem to think my obsession is slightly carried away- do you guys agree with me that SATC will always be cool? *Scarlett
Us bloggers (aspiring photographers) have a lot to thank Bill Cunningham for. Out now to celebrate his work- a new film ‘Bill Cunningham New York’ has just been released. Showing his impressive influence on the world of fashion through his photography. Sometimes it’s more powerful said in Black and White. *Scarlett
‘A bigger splash’ sums up the temptation that takes over for a dive here or there to catch the street style snappers during fashion weeks. Lots of dark colours and cashmere still around and I confess that I am still fighting back the cold with my grandmother’s wool coat as no 1 wardrobe staple for NY. Though it’s my accessories that are lightening the mood with neon Perspex and other poolside prettys that are more suited to David Hockney’s paradise.
Friday kicks off London Fashion Week and I’m looking forward to London’s eccentric ways where a miss match equals perfect match! I’ll be testing lace socks with cork wedges as I just can’t wait for the sun to shine before I wear them. See you by the pool London…*Scarlett
